Cookies and Kisses

These are a favorite to take at cookie exchanges. They are quick to put together, taste wonderful and look special with that cute little chocolate kiss placed on top. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 48 chocolate kisses
  • ½ cup shortening
  • ¾ cup peanut butter
  • cup granulated sugar
  • cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 ex-large egg
  • 2 tbsp whole milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • additional sugar

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 375° F
    Remove wrappers from the chocolate kisses
  • Beat shortening and peanut butter in a large bowl until well blended
    Add ½ cup granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk, and vanilla; beat well.
    Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture.
  • Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar; place on parchment paper lined cookie sheets.
    Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately press a chocolate kiss into center of each cookie; cookie will crack around edges.
    Remove from cookie sheets to wire rack and cool completely.
